Our client is seeking a Microsoft Engineer in the San Francisco Bay area to help a range of small to medium sized businesses maintain IT environments powered by Windows 8, Windows 7, and XP, Windows Server 2012, 2008 and 2003, and Microsoft Exchange 2003 through 2013. Key areas of expertise include system infrastructure, Active Directory design, Exchange-based email, security, and server monitoring.


  • Maintain and troubleshoot Windows Server -powered IT environments
  • Operate on-site and remotely to analyze and fix both urgent and lingering issues related to reliability, protection, capacity, accessibility, and overall functionality
  • Install, setup and validate MS Windows-based program hosts and MS .NET servers
  • Configure and deploy Windows 8, Windows 7, and XP workstations
  • Configure and analyze a variety of network services and applications
  • Plan and implement upgrades to MS desktop OS, Windows 2012, 2008 and 2003 Server, Active Directory, and Microsoft Exchange 2003 through 2013 Server
  • Support and administer MS Outlook client with back office Microsoft Exchange Server, MS Office suite, phone communications, and Internet access
  • Efficient system architecture and proactive server monitoring
  • Create accurate documentation of the environment as it grows, and identify and procure additional processor and communications hardware and/or software to support growth and new functions
  • Design information technology architectures and protections policies that promote client's company growth

Minimum Work Experience Requirements:

  • 10+ years experience in desktop, server administration and IT Infrastructure support (new software installation, machine setup, problem isolation and resolution)
  • 7+ years consulting experience
  • Strong technical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills, ability to implement quick workarounds to technical problems
  • Works independently and demonstrates strong sense of ownership and initiative
  • Demonstrated dedication and commitment to providing continuous operations
  • Ability to troubleshoot application problems including workstation program compatibility issues, server issues, data service issues, and connectivity problems
  • Familiarity with remote monitoring tools and remote troubleshooting techniques
  • Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in a virtual office environment, providing consistent follow-through and utilizing remote access and wireless connectivity technology

Education Required:

  • Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP: EA) or
  • Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MSCE)
  • Two-year degree in computer science/technology, or equivalent experience
