Talent has partnered with a company in the medical device manufacturing space. They assist small and large companies with custom software and electronics. Half of their business is from product design - and half from intelligent automation equipment such as custom computer vision guided equipment and robotic manufacturing cells.

Job responsibilities may include:

  • Everything required to make custom automated equipment. Depending on experience and level of the individual, this may include:
    • Electrical panel layout and wiring
    • Assist with the assembly, programming, and testing of robotic manufacturing workcells
    • Assist with the assembly and testing of electromechanical equipment
    • Assist with the layout, assembly, and testing of custom circuit boards
    • Mechanical and electrical design of the automation equipment and components
    • Write Windows based test software for custom equipment
    • PLC programming
    • Communicate with vendors to get quotes and order off-the-shelf or custom parts
    • Communicate with customers or team members to establish or clarify system requirements
    • Provide on-site technical support to customers
    • Write and maintain product documentation such as user manuals, wiring diagrams, component drawings, etc
  • Product design and development
    • Mechanical and electrical design of prototype and production components and assemblies for medical devices
    • Component inspections
    • Assembling prototype and production devices
    • Documentation related to product design and development within a quality system including project planning, risk management documentation, manufacturing documentation (LHRs, BOMs, travelers, etc).

 

Required skills and experience:

  • Degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, or a similar Engineering discipline, or 5 years equivalent experience
  • Focus on mechatronics and computer science
  • Experience designing complex components and editing mutli-component assemblies within CAD
  • Experience doing basic mechanical assembly
  • Good mechanical intuition
  • Must have good attention to detail; ability to perform some work with minimal supervision
  • Electrical wiring experience
  • Experience with basic electrical test tools: voltage measurement, resistance measurement, continuity check
  • Good English communication skill both written and verbal
  • Must be self directed and able to prioritize a diverse workload to meet deadlines
  • Ability to independently learn about and solve basic implementation problems
  • Enthusiasm for problem solving and learning new skills
  • Proficiency with MS Office

 

The ideal candidate would also have some of these skills and abilities:

  • Design and assembly of electromechanical, pneumatic, and/or automation systems
  • Strong Solidworks design experience
  • Firm understanding of mechanical engineering concepts such as stress/strain
  • Cadsoft Eagle, PCB Artist, or other electrical design software
  • Windows GUI programming, particularly Windows Forms controls
  • Microcontroller programming
  • Familiarity with oscilloscopes
  • Soldering, including surface mount soldering
  • Electronics design: low speed digital, switching power circuits, motor drivers
  • Programming PLCs using ladder logic or function block diagrams
  • Industrial sensors: temperature, pressure, proximity, etc.
  • Machine vision systems
  • Motion control programming
  • Servo motor setup and tuning
  • Multi-threaded programming
  • Familiarity with ISO 9000 or similar quality systems
  • Familiarity with NFPA, UL, or NEC electrical codes
  • Experience programming in C, C++, C#, Java, or Visual Basic
